DEADLINE to Upgrade to the Latest
Version of SAPGui and INI Files

Message - October 10, 2003

Several enhancements are being made to the IRIS hardware configuration this month. These enhancements require that all users who access IRIS through the "SAPGui" icon have the latest version of the SAPGui (version 6.20) and the most recent version of the SAPGui "INI" files.

If you are unsure of the version of SAPGui that you are running, please see attached instructions for determining the version of SAPGui. If your SAPGui logon pad shows entries for “IRIS FI Production” and “IRIS HR Production”, you need to download the new INI files.

After 10/17/03, users who do not upgrade and who attempt to connect to IRIS via “IRIS FI Production” will be unable to do so, since that server is being replaced by a more powerful server. The new INI files provide “load balancing”, which means that when you sign on to IRIS you will be routed to the least active server. This will provide you with the best available performance.

If you access IRIS via the SAP Logon Pad, you should have the 6.2 SAPGui and the load balancing INI files installed on your workstation no later than 10/16/03. If you access IRIS from the web SAPGui that is available from the IRIS web site, you do not need to install anything new on your workstation.

Access to the new SAPGui and INI files is only available through the IRIS page on the My/UT Portal. Please see the attached document entitled “Instructions for Accessing the IRIS Portal and for Installing the New SAPGui and INI Files.”

If you are installing the SAP front-end on a PC that has an operating system of either Windows XP or Windows 2000, you will need to be logged into an account with administrative rights to the PC.
